Gulf of Mexico Essential Fish Habitat
The content of this web page was developed in 1998 by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Ocean Service (NOS), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), and the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council (GMFMC) to to assist with the identification of Essential Fish Habitat (EFH) in coastal waters of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the gulf coast of Florida. These and other products were used by the Council to amend their fishery management plans in accordance with the EFH requirements of the re-authorized Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Management and Conservation Act. Current information on EFH is available from NMFS’ Office of Habitat Conservation at http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/habitat/habitatprotection/efh/, NMFS’ Galveston Lab at http://galveston.ssp.nmfs.gov/research/fisheryecology/EFH/index.html. and from GMFMC at http://www.gulfcouncil.org/. Current information on NOAA's Estuarine Living Marine Resources (ELMR) project is available at http://ccma.nos.noaa.gov/ecosystems/estuaries/elmr.html.Download ELMR Species Relative Abundance Tables:
